My first trip to Tokyo at sixteen marked the beginning of a lifelong fascination with Japan. Tokyo is a blaze of neon, futuristic temples to technology and commerce. Yet, hidden within its heart, one finds serene gardens and Shinto Shrines. They rest in the skyscrapers' shadows, whispering stories of spirits and centuries-old traditions. I have always appreciated this juxtaposition of modernity and tradition.
